SASC Recreational Soccer Player Registration

This information is for Recreational Soccer Player registration only.

Please note:

tulip  leaf   Our Spring & Fall Recreational Leagues are comprised of parent-coached teams, with mid-week practices and a season of scheduled games on Saturdays.

Sunnyvale Soccer are classes taught by SASC professional coaches for 4-5 year old beginner players, held on Wednesday afternoons.

Registration for the Fall 2025 season is now closed.

Dates

  • Registration closed on August 6, 2025
    (Financial Aid applications closed on July 31, 2025)

  • First game: September 6, 2025
  • Last game: November 8, 2025
  • Up to 10 games depending on age group, plus an optional post-season tournament for the older age groups
  • There will be no make-ups scheduled for canceled games
  • Games will be played on City of Sunnyvale fields. Older age groups (U12+) may play against other clubs in the South Bay which will require travel to away games

Age Groups

    As of the Fall 2025 season, SASC is changing the formation of all recreational age groups up to U12 to be based on the school year (i.e. players born from Sep 1st to Aug 31st the following year are now considered in the same age group). This aligns with the US Soccer Mandate which is being introduced in Fall 2026. Age groups U14 and older will remain based on calendar year till Fall 2026 to match the other clubs in the area they will play against.

  • Players must be born Aug 31, 2021 or earlier to be able to register
  • When you register, you will select the age group you wish to play in. You can choose to play 'up' into an older age group, but you cannot play 'down' into a younger age group.
  • We anticipate, but do not guarantee, forming age groups as follows:
    • Boys: U6, U7, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16+
    • Girls: U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16+

Team Formation

  • Being able to play with your friend(s) is a key goal when teams are created. When teams are formed we look at friend requests, and then coach requests. We also take into consideration the players neighborhoods/schools.
  • We will make every effort to accommodate requests, however we can not guarantee that we can satisfy all requests.
    Here are a couple of examples:
    • The interconnected friend requests exceeds the team's size. We do try to make sure that some of the requests are fulfilled such that each player is with at least one friend.
    • A player registers AFTER the registration deadline. Placement with friends/coach will depend on the spaces that are available.
  • The SASC Rec. Director also reserves the right to make changes to any team rosters to balance and improve fair play across an age division.

U6-U8 programs

  • SASC will run a special club practice program to support our volunteer coaches in the U6, U7 and U8 age groups
  • Each participating team will be assigned a timeslot on either Wednesday or Friday afternoons
    • Note - each team's volunteer coach can choose to opt-out of these sessions and run their own practice at a time/day/location of their preference
  • Our Director of Coaching (Andrew Ransome) will provide practice plans and live instruction for each practice session
  • On Saturday, teams will play games against each other, led by their coaches

Practices

  • Each team will practice at least once a week (U12 and older age groups are typically twice per week)
  • The time/day and location of each practice is completely up to the team's volunteer coach

Coaches needed

  • Our program relies on parent/volunteer coaches, please consider volunteering to coach your child's team
  • Coaches receive in-person training before the season as well as ongoing support throughout the season
  • All required equipment is provided (plus a SASC hat & shirt to keep)
  • Head coaches receive a 50% discount on a recreational player registration fee!
    • Issued after season starts and successful completion of all mandated registration events
  • Please let us know of your desire to coach by checking the box in your child's registration, or by contacting the SASC Recreational Director

Registration Fees

    • U6:   $205
    • U7+: $225
    A late fee of $20 is added for registrations after the deadline (August 6, 2025)

  • Registration fee includes a complete uniform
  • Financial Aid is available. Please review eligibility and submit a request on the SASC Financial Aid page before registering.
    • IMPORTANT - Financial Aid applications take some time to process, so please submit your application by July 31, 2025 to ensure your place on a team.

Required paperwork

  • Proof of age documentation may be required for players. You will receive a separate emailed request to upload it if required.
    • A copy of the child's birth certificate or a copy of the photo page of their passport must be uploaded. No hospital certificates or foreign language birth documents are accepted. Please contact recregistration@sunnyvalesoccer.org if your birth document is only available in a foreign language.

Payment and Refund Policy - Spring 2025 Recreational Season

  • Refunds requested on or before August 11, 2025 are eligible for a partial refund of $100
  • Refunds will not be issued after August 11, 2025 except in case of injury (at the discretion of the Recreational Director)
  • Refunds due to injury will require a doctor's note and will be prorated based on date of injury
  • Players who register for the SASC Recreational program and move to the SASC Competitive program must submit a refund request
All refund requests must be made in writing at: www.sunnyvalesoccer.org/refunds and can take up to 4 weeks to process.
